Clinical Director / Founder
Rose Faquir, the Founder and Clinical Director of Restoring Peace Counselling and Consultancy Pte Ltd, is a survivor of interpersonal trauma who ventured into counselling after overcoming a series of traumatic experiences that affected her sense of dignity and self-esteem. She was eventually restored through her faith journey, counselling and positive social support. Rose's journey of restoration from ashes to beauty motivated her to become a professional counsellor and psychotherapist.
A registered counsellor and clinical supervisor with Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC), Rose holds a rich experience of counselling individuals and families through social service, rehabilitation and private counselling. While working with childhood trauma and family violence victims, Rose observed that the unresolved traumatic experience(s) often hindered her clients from moving forward and achieving their dreams. She found that even when her clients function well in other areas of their life, post-traumatic stress continues to affect their core belief and sense of self, hindering their intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships. Rose's observations, personal experiences and clients' encouragement motivated her to acquire skills in trauma informed-therapy.
Rose holds the motto that counselling is progressive and the counsellors/therapists are always "a work in progress". Therefore, she attends courses regularly to be acquainted with the latest development in counselling psychology. She is a registered clinical supervisor who also attends regular clinical supervision for herself to provide better services to her clients.
Besides overseeing Restoring Peace Counselling & Consultancy Pte Ltd, providing psychotherapy and clinical supervision, Rose volunteers actively. She serves the Indonesian domestic helpers on Sundays and the marginalised society on an ad-hoc basis. Rose also provides complimentary clinical supervision to a group of lay counsellors who offer free counselling to the community and she serves with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC). Despite her busy schedule, Rose takes time out for self-care. She enjoys socialising, checking out cafes, cooking, outdoor exercises, walking and silent retreats. She also treats herself to power naps.
Rose Faquir's approach to counselling is strength-based. The main method she uses is EMDR or brainspotting, which she integrates with Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Expressive Arts. Besides trauma-informed therapy, Rose also provides addictions therapy and brief therapy. She counsels in English, Malay and Bahasa Indonesia.
