Our Principal Counsellor Rose Faquir is a survivor of interpersonal trauma who ventured into counselling after overcoming a series of setbacks which affected her confidence and sense of dignity. She was eventually restored through her faith journey, counselling and positive social support. Rose Faquir's journey of restoration from ashes to beauty motivated her to become a professional counsellor.
A registered counsellor and clinical supervisor with Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC), Rose Faquir holds a rich experience of counselling individuals and families from a diverse background in social service as well as through private counselling. While working with victims of childhood trauma and family violence, Rose observed the unresolved traumatic experience(s) often hindered her clients from moving forward and achieving their dreams. She found that even when her client function well in other areas of their life, the post-traumatic stress continues to affect their relationship and their core-belief, thus hindering them from moving forward. Rose's observation plus her journey from "ashes to beauty" motivated her to focus on working with trauma survivors.
Rose Faquir’s approach to counselling is strength-based., and her theoretical framework includes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), which she integrates with Attachment Theory and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
Beside trauma-informed therapy, Rose Faquir also offered brief therapy. Rose Faquir provides counselling in English, Malay and Bahasa Indonesia.
