Our Founder

Rose Faquir
Clinical Director / Principal Trauma Psychotherapist

Rose Faquir, the Founder and Clinical Director of Restoring Peace Counselling and Consultancy Pte Ltd, ventured into professional counselling after her encounter with traumatic experiences that affected her sense of dignity and self-esteem. She experienced healing from her trauma through counselling, positive social support and a unique faith journey. Rose's restoration from the valley of the shadow of darkness motivated her to help others. She also supervise professional and counselling students in clinical practice.

In addition to private practice, Rose has a rich experience working in social services: family service centres, a temporary shelter, a step-down prison and a rehabilitation centre. In 2015, people started referring her private clients. As she reflects on her experience working in social services and her private practice, Rose observed the limitation of counselling that focuses solely on behavioural and cognitive intervention. She noted that many of her clients could not progress in healing because of their childhood trauma. Rose contemplated taking PHD to help her better serve her clients but eventually decided to invest in various trauma-informed courses so she could develop clinical interventions that effectively help her clients heal from their trauma. In developing her trauma-focused practice, Rose also connected with her childhood trauma and experienced her healing.

Rose founded Restoring Peace so she could focus on providing trauma-informed therapy. She believes everyone deserves to have mental wellness regardless of their social status, faith, belief and cultural background. Her unique identity, prior working experience in multi-industry, and her restoration from ashes to beauty testify to her ability to interact with people regardless of their cultural and religious stance.

Rose has over 12 years of experience working with acute and complex trauma, anxiety, grief, depression, addiction, family violence, personality disorder, PTSD and psychotic. Her approach to counselling is strength-based and holistic. Rose is competent in many counselling modalities and provides brief and long-term therapy. She holds special interest in helping trauma survivors and founded Restoring Peace so she could focus on providing trauma-informed therapy.

As a trauma psychotherapist, Rose integrates her knowledge of the different therapy techniques with Expressive Arts, Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR and Brainspotting Therapy.

Rose is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RC) and Clinical Supervisor (RCS) with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC) and a Certified EMDR therapist with EMDR Singapore (EMDRS). In addition to direct work with her clients, Rose supervises professionals and counselling students through individual and group supervision and training. Rose extensively invests in training and clinical supervision with local and overseas consultants for her continuing professional growth.

Despite her hectic schedule, Rose finds time to cook, spend time with loved ones, attend social gatherings, exercise, travel, and power naps.
