Irah Mazlan

Masters in Counselling (Specialisation in Family Therapy)

(Swinburne  University)

Bachelor of Science Psychology

(University of Wollongong)

Behind her youthful smile, Irah grew up with constant health challenges, which led to her interest in helping those with physical and mental health challenges. She is incredibly passionate about helping those from disadvantaged families. She has experience in mentoring youths at risk and seniors. The people she mentored commented positively on her listening skills, genuineness, and compassion, and their comments ignited her interest to embark on her journey to be a professional counsellor.

Irah's experience includes providing support to cancer patients and to disadvantaged children. Her compassion for the marginalised also led her to volunteer her services to individuals affected by the COVID-19 pandemic during the circuit breaker period. Her empathy for the lonely and marginalised led her to volunteer to visit seniors who stay alone and connect them with the relevant resources.

With her experiences working with people from different walks of life, Irah offered her clients compassion, kindness and empathy. Her approach to counselling is person-centred and integrative. Her approach to counselling is integrative of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred Therapy (PCT), and Solution-focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). A believer in lifelong learning, Irah often sources opportunities to improve herself.

Besides providing counselling, Irah actively develops mental health awareness posts as part of the TikTok mental health program. Irah loves spending time in nature and listening to rock songs in her free time.
