Lena Soh is a trained counsellor and an award-winning educator. She held various roles in the Ministry of Education, including Vice-Principal of a Junior College and Assistant Director in leadership training. She was also the head of a non-profit organisation caring for widows and the fatherless. 

 

Besides providing counselling, training and facilitating support groups, Lena is passionate about developing resources that enable meaningful teaching and learning for the community. She produced a remembrance activity toolkit, a grief-coping publication and befriending materials. Lena's work has been featured in several media, such as Salt and Light and The Straits Times. 

 

Lena's counselling experiences include parenting, academic, grief and loss, career and mental health issues. Her therapeutic approaches include cognitive-behaviour therapy, narrative therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy. Lena holds a Masters in Literary Studies and integrates poetry and literary/symbolic elements in her therapeutic work.

 

In her spare time, Lena runs a social media page that provides grief education and support to the bereaved. As a volunteer, she derives joy from facilitating grief support groups and teaching and hosting bereavement support seminars. When she is not running grief cafes or strategizing new programmes at work, Lena prefers to devour books and chocolates and play with her two children and a pet rabbit.
